The Estero Palo Verde belongs to the fourth glass of the Cuyutlán Lagoon, the largest in the State of Colima. Mangroves are ecosystems of enormous ecological importance in the marine and coastal zone. However, they are also very fragile ecosystems. Despite its ecological, economic, and social importance, the extent of mangroves globally has declined markedly in recent decades, largely due to deforestation. The visitor has the opportunity to discover the wonder of the estuary through the Muelle de la Esperanza, which is located in the Ecological Center of Cuyutlán "El Tortugario".
